My dear nest

Oh wow, I'm back, finally after god knows how long. It's only today that I finally managed to start blogging. Look at where I am now. Currently, I am at my own space. Oh wow. how time flies that i already have a space of mine. I only took twice the journey of shifting my stuffs and pretty much the same goes for love. Apart from that, there's a few times that his folks assisted us in bringing our stuffs over.

I'll share a little of our Reno journey. We went to a total of about 3-4 ID for quotation, which includes 1 from contractor. Below are the list of IDs that we went to for quotation;
MMJ Design
Cozyspace
Dots and Tots Design Pte Ltd

Including, a quotation from a trustable contractor, Mr Alan.

Finally, after much considerations, we decided to go with cozyspace and definitely no regrets. We've gotten such a reliable ID, Josh, who are of great help to us throughout the reno. He always ensures our reno schedule is according to the schedule and he's very reliable. We didn't have to chase him for any updates etc. We would definitely recommend him to others because he ensures things goes smoothly for us.

Ideas of the design of our house came from us. I had a rough idea of what i wanted. Right before our reno meetings begin. As time goes by, love also put in his input. I'm very happy with the turnout, just as expected. Scandi with neutral colors. Love was impressed at the sight of the 3D drawings given by ID, halfway to the reno journey.

Once the keys has been passed over, we took time to source out for the furnitures etc. I didn't do much homework after the reno ends...but it was love who had eyes on the furnitures etc. Hence, we got what he desired such as the tv console. The dining light, the plant by the side of the console.

Apart from that, we also took water dispenser from Hydroflux and yes, we've been fully utilising it. This is highly recommended because i remembered, back in my parents place, we always have to boil water or store water in the fridge. Some days, you could be facing such a hot weather and coming home, realising the cold water has run out. It can be quite frustrating! With this dispenser, getting mineral water at any time, isn't an issue.

As for my kitchen sink, i managed to get it from Ezbuy because...its just hard to find such beautiful gold faucet at an affordable price in our country. What i love about it is that, it has en extendable hose to it. Just as what i've always wanted. It really assist us in cleaning the corners of the sink. :)

As for the grills, i managed to get a good deal from Mr Frederick, from FB: B Home Reno Works. You can consider getting windows and grills from them. I did quite a thorough job in searching for a good reliable deal and i got mine, for less than $800 for whole house window grills, except service yard.

For my curtains and blinds, I got it at a reasonable rate from Curtains & Blinds Pte Ltd. We installed pvc blinds for the living room and korean combi with 80% blackout for the 2 bedrooms. We spent about $1.5k in total. As for the master bedroom, we bought the curtain rods from IKEA and ring curtains from Spotlight. Though it's not part of the agreement, they assisted in fixing the curtains rods out of their goodwill. Hence, i'd recommend them to those who're looking for curtains and blinds. They're located at 430 Upper Changi Road, #01-101 East Village.

There's pros and cons of getting lights from across the border. I think the pros is pretty much obvious that you could save alot!! However, cons is...you cant guarantee that everything will function normally. 1 out 3 ceiling fans with lights was faulty after we installed it. As a result, we had to sent it back. They promised to call us within 2 weeks from date of item sent for repair but till now, we receive no news of it. Each time we call the no, no one replied. Apart from this unpleasant experience, everything else is in good working condition. :)

Just in case, if you're keen, we purchased our lights mostly from JB, tampoi or Best Light City Sdn Bhd
(No.33, Jalan Tiong Emas, Taman Mount Austin, 81000 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia).

Overall, I'd say, it is fun ..to have your own nest but at the same time, you can't escape from chores!!! Unlike staying with your parents or siblings, you can always tai-chi the chores to someone else. Now, not anymore. You really need to manage your time wisely and rearrange your priorities. You need to shop for groceries and set time to cook etc. God knows how our moms did it, including raising us up.

I can say the common arguments that we faced now is always about chores and i think this is quite a normal situation that most couples will face, at the start of having your own home and ...pretty much throughout the years. ;p

Till then, it's time for me to relax...on my comfy bed. Toodles!

Yours truly,
saf
